UNC’s Campus Safety Commission held a Zoom meeting on April 15, discussing subcommittee recommendations related to sexual violence and policing on campus.

Members approved recommendations to increase accountability and oversight in the university’s handling and prevention of sexual violence, including the establishment of a Violence Prevention Advisory Group.

The Commission also discussed the issue of police officers carrying lethal weapons in cases that may not require them, such as medical emergencies. The motion to approve the recommendation ultimately failed.
