ITS is continuing to develop an internal display feature within the TDX system. After minor edits, the University’s new Emergency Management Policy came into effect July 1.

Risk Management Framework and Equity Review

Matthew Teal, Interim Associate Director of Ethics and Policy, presented the Office’s proposed Risk Management Framework for PRC review and feedback. The Office of Ethics and Policy reviewed all University policies, standards, and procedures to assess their risk level, based on five factors:

  • if there are external consequences for policy document violation;
  • if the policy document is central to UNC-Chapel Hill’s mission and/or values;
  • if the policy document has any governing external regulations or requirements;
  • if UNC-Chapel Hill’s non-compliance with the policy document creates the risk of long-term harm to the University; and
  • if UNC-Chapel Hill’s non-compliance with the policy document creates the risk of short-term or immediate harm to the University.

The goal of this draft framework is to provide guidance to departments in order to triage policy management. The PRC discussed other factors relevant to incorporate into the next version of the framework, such as regulatory urgency and the interactions between University and Unit policies.
