Although we couldn’t celebrate as usual, we are so thankful for our Spring Interns and all of their hard work this semester. We wish the best to each of you in your future endeavors!

Tabitha Gillespie has been an intern with the Office of Ethics and Policy for two semesters. This semester, she has worked on a variety of projects, including updating and migrating policies into PolicyStat and researching and writing a policy memo on facial recognition technology use at UNC peer institutions. Tabitha is graduating this semester with degrees in Peace, War, and Defense and Global Studies, and she will be pursuing a Master’s degree in Security Studies at Georgetown University beginning this fall!

This is Olivia Robertson’s third semester as an intern at the office. Some of her projects this semester include updating policies and migrating them into PolicyStat, researching facial recognition technology, and working on a Mask Policy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Olivia will be graduating in May with degrees in Political Science and Public Policy, and she plans to work in the public sector before pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy.

Dylan Hall is a junior majoring in Peace, War, and Defense and Public Policy. Throughout the semester, Dylan has worked on several projects including updating university policies and researching and writing a policy memo on facial recognition technology.

Emma Lane is a junior majoring in Public Policy and Economics. Some of the projects she has worked on during the semester include conducting research on Carolina Ethics Line and developing a report on key findings, updating the university guidelines for Carolina Ethics Line, and creating the office’s monthly newsletter. Emma plans to continue interning in the office and teach English online this summer.

Nehali Watwe is a junior majoring in Public Policy and Economics. Some of her projects this semester included researching and writing a policy memo on risk management, developing a bibliography of ethics in higher education, and researching UNC peer institutions’ general codes of ethics. Nehali will be continuing her internship with the office this summer.

Madeline Leung is a freshman planning on majoring in Health Policy and Management. Throughout the semester, she has written a policy memo on student death protocol, managed the office’s social media accounts, and analyzed internal investigations. This summer, she plans to get a job in her hometown and seek volunteer opportunities related to her interests.
